She began her career way back in 2006 with participation in junior and senior teams. Her first medal came in 2009 ISSF World Cup in Beijing where she bagged a silver and followed it with another silver medal in the Women’s 10m air pistol team event at the 2010 Asian Games. However, she along with Annu Raj Singh won the gold medal in the Women’s pairs 10m air pistol event. Moreover, Sidhu finished 12th in the qualification round at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.  This was followed by her winning the gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in 2013. Soon, she became the first Indian pistol shooter to be ranked world no.1 by the ISSF. In 2017, the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Brisbane witnessed her magic as she clinched yet another gold medal. Drawing inspiration from this, MyGov commenced a contest, inviting citizens to submit their entries to bring into the spotlight the cases of numerous women who have brought glory to the country. It focused on the fact that she was the first woman to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships. Her pairing with Jitu Rai at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) also found mention.
